Counselor Certification
You've enjoyed being a camper at Lakeshore, haven't you? I bet at some point during your time, a counselor has added to the fun and spiritual time you had. You have probably been interested in doing the same thing at some point.
To counsel, you must go through a lot of preparation. At our counselor certification camp, we will teach what you need to know to start counseling. You will learn, not only how to better work with children of all backgrounds, but how to work specifically at Lakeshore.
In addition to our sessions on being a counselor, you will be introduced to other counselors in training whom you could serve with in the summer. We will get to know each other and develop a deeper closeness to the God we are serving.
We have 3 Counselor Certification Camps a year. The 2010 dates are:
-February 19-21
-April 30-May 2
-November 19-21
You must be 15 years old to be certified. We will accept 20 participants, and most weekends fill up. It is wise to register at least a month before each date. Contact us, and we would be glad to send you a brochure.
Confirmation Retreat
When a young person learns what it means to be a church member, it is a pivotal point in his or her life. It has lasting affects on the church and how its young members understand it. A good confirmation experience can be the launch point of a strong Christian journey. Lakeshore wants to help make your church's Confirmation Experience a special one with our annual Confirmation Retreat.
Maybe you are a small church that doesn't have enough children to lead a dynamic Confirmation class. Maybe you want to take your confirmands off site for some of their learning. Maybe you feel like your group needs a few days out of their element to focus completely on this introduction to the church. Or maybe you just want something big to kick off confirmation for your group.
We think that our retreat will help you accomplish any of these needs and more. The retreat will consist of six sessions that will focus on our beliefs from the "Claim the Name" curriculum. Ministers from the Memphis Conference will lead each session. We will also have music and worship as well. The 2010 Confirmation Retreat is set for February 5-7.

Memphis Conference Youth Retreats
These are retreats for the youth of the Memphis Conference, hosted at Lakeshore. In many ways, it is a small slice of a week at Lakeshore during the summer. The retreats will focus on spiritual formation, social justice and more active participation in the church.
